4 Signs it's Time to Replace your Boiler

March 04, 2017

Is it time to replace your new boiler? Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here with some signals to look for when deciding whether it’s time to invest in a new boiler.

Age

If your condensing boiler has standard maintenance, you can expect it to operate about 15 years or so. Cast iron boilers can last decades, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is coming up on 15 years or your cast iron boiler is getting close to 50 years, it may be time to discuss an upgrade.

Bills

If your energy bills are increasing or you’re having to service your boiler more frequently, it could be because it’s time to buy a new, more efficient boiler.

Discoloration

If you notice yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be a signal that the fuel is not burning adequately and could be producing carbon monoxide. If you observe these issues or have any concerns surrounding carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Service Experts or your gas company immediately.

Comfort

If some of the rooms in your home are too hot or too cold and you can’t seem to control them correctly or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is not effective and you could need to look into upgrade options.
