We are making our way through the last of the weeks of winter but we still are relying on our furnaces, especially during cold nights. Nothing is worse than laying down at night just to realize your furnace won’t start up. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are a few things you can check yourself before calling Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning.
Check Air Filters
You should swap out standard air filters each month. If you don’t, they can become clogged, restricting air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the actual room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t kick on. Also, confirm the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem obvious, but verify the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so confirm the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently flipped to the “Off” position.
If you inspect all these things and your furnace will still not start up, give Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning a call at 352-414-4006 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
