The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Corporate Office in Plano, TX was honored to contribute 324 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano.
“Last September, I had the chance to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an unbelievable experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They do so much more than just collect food – they are an essential part of this community.”
Minnie’s Food Pantry was created by Cheryl Jackson as a way to recognize her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent many of her childhood years wondering if and where she would receive her next meal. Not only does Minnie’s provide free healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to utilize the food they are given to create nourishing, long-lasting meals. They also provide resume aid along with money-management and job classes to help people get back on their feet.
Since each family receives around 50 pounds of food to last them a month, Service Experts was able to provide meals for six families for the month.
“All the team members were so thrilled that we had this food drive for the organization, and they even took time to show us their amazing facility,” Wilson said.
