There are times when terrible things can happen to special people. And sometimes, these people focus their misfortune into a chance to assist others. Men and women of the HVAC industry know a man who did just that. His name is Joe Groh, and he lives here in the Dallas TX metro area.
Joe was in the HVAC industry for almost 30 years before a biking accident left him paralyzed from the neck down. Notwithstanding his immobility, Joe wanted to stay connected in the HVAC industry, so he started the Joseph Groh Foundation. The foundation works with companies in the construction trades industries, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical and roofing, to offer short and long-term disability insurance for their employees. It also acts as an information hub on spinal cord injuries.
The Joseph Groh Foundation also offers financial assistance to those in the industry or their family members who have experienced a life changing injury or illness. Recipients have used money from the foundation in various ways, including making homes wheel chair accessible by widening doorways, ramp additions, redoing flooring and purchasing adaptive equipment. To satisfy financial assistance requests, the foundation holds a variety of fundraisers throughout the year.
Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning regularly supports Joe and his charge to help others in the HVAC industry that have been impacted by a life altering accident and was proud to sponsor one of the Joseph Groh Foundation’s recent golf tournament fundraisers. The Service Experts Tournament for the Joseph Groh Foundation took place at Coyote Ridge Golf Club in the Dallas TX metro area on May 4. With 131 golfers on the links this year, the tournament raised more than $52,000.
“We are happy to support Joe and his efforts to assist others with his real life message of inspiring hope through adversity,” says Scott Boxer, CEO and President of Service Experts. “Whether it’s in Gainesville or the nearly 85 markets across North America, Service Experts is committed to the communities we serve.”
While Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning supports a number of charities and organizations across Gainesville, we’re extremely proud to give back to organizations in the heating, ventilation and AC service industry.
